Any Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) member in good standing may request to form a chapter.

How many people are needed to form a chapter?
A chapter needs to have at least 20 ACFE members in order to be chartered. At least 10 must be Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs) in good standing.

Why should I join a local chapter?
Local chapters allow you to build strong business and personal relationships with other anti-fraud professionals in your area. Chapters also provide quality, inexpensive training on the latest anti-fraud topics.

Who can join a local chapter?
All ACFE members in good standing are eligible to join an ACFE chapter. A chapter may allow non-members to become affiliates of the chapter. Affiliates do not have voting rights and are not eligible to hold any chapter office. These individuals are encouraged to join the ACFE to begin taking advantage of the benefits of membership.

Can there be more than one chapter serving the same community?
Chapters are not chartered with exclusive rights to a community, so multiple chapters in the same community are permitted. However, unless there is a demonstrated need it is unlikely to be approved. If a chapter is too large to manage with the resources available to it, a second chapter would be considered.

No, chapters are made up of individual members. Multiple ACFE members from an organization may join the chapter as individuals.

Does it cost extra to join a chapter?
There is no fee charged by the ACFE to join a chapter. A chapter may charge membership dues to join. The chapter may also collect fees for participation in its activities. Contact your closest chapter to learn more about joining.

Meeting fees vary with each chapter and it is recommended you contact the chapter closest to you to learn more about their meetings and events.

How often do chapters meet?
Chapters meet monthly, bimonthly or quarterly. Many chapters also hold one- and two-day training events. Contact your closest chapter for more information about their schedule.

How long are the meetings?
Most chapter meetings last 1-2 hours, although it varies among chapters and for special events. Chapters may also offer events lasting 1-2 days.
