Description

One of the more recent developments in investigative interviewing is “trauma-informed interviewing.” But, what is its methodology and how does it help you illicit information in the most successful way?  

In this session, you will learn about the concept of trauma-informed interviewing, clarify misconceptions and receive guidance on how to incorporate its valuable elements into your interviewing toolkit. You will identify the goals of a trauma-informed approach and use the “Cognitive Interview” and other science-supported models to identify the parts of the interview process that are already trauma-informed or that can be modified to be.

Prerequisites

Participants should have prior knowledge of and experience with conducting interviews.

You Will Learn How To:

Differentiate trauma-informed interviewing from other interviewing methodologies and theories.

Identify circumstances in which trauma-informed interviewing is appropriate.

Incorporate elements of trauma-informed interviewing into investigative interviewing.
