“Tinder Swindler” Hero Among Keynotes at 2023 ACFE Fraud Conference Europe

The online conference, which will be held March 27-29, will also feature more than a dozen educational sessions led by experts across anti-fraud, auditing, cybersecurity and technology industries.

Ayleen Charlotte, whose story was brought to light in Netflix’s 2022 documentary, “The Tinder Swindler,” will address attendees in one of five keynote sessions scheduled for the 2023 ACFE Fraud Conference Europe. The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the world’s largest organization of anti-fraud professionals, is hosting the virtual event March 27-29.

Tech expert and author Jamie Bartlett, corporate misconduct and ethical leadership expert José Hernandez, GenAI expert Nina Schick, and cybersecurity expert Natina Thalien will also deliver keynote sessions for the yearly event. Conference breakout sessions will cover a variety of emerging fraud topics, including artificial intelligence, NFTs, dark web fraud and ESG issues.

Ayleen Charlotte was featured in “The Tinder Swindler” for her relationship with a man she later learned was convicted fraudster Simon Leviev, who had been scamming multiple women — including herself — out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Charlotte jumped into action to lead the authorities to his arrest. In recognition of her efforts, she was named the Scam Fighter Person of the Year in 2023 by the Global Anti-Scam Alliance. Charlotte will be interviewed by Stacey Toder Feldman from Deloitte, which is an event sponsor.

Jamie Bartlett is the author of four books, including “The Missing Cryptoqueen” (2022), which began as a BBC podcast series back in 2019. Bartlett is well-versed in cybersecurity and privacy online, and his TED Talk titled “How the mysterious dark net is going mainstream” has been viewed more than five million times. Bartlett is also the founder of the Centre for the Analysis of Social Media at the think tank Demos.

José Hernandez, Ph.D., CPA, is the founder and CEO of Ortus Strategies AG and is a globally recognized expert on corporate misconduct and ethical leadership. As an independent advisor, Hernandez has worked with companies on five continents, providing leaders guidance in navigating through financial crime crises. Since 2016, Hernandez has also served on the Government of Canada’s Advisory Committee on Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.

Nina Schick is regarded as one of the first Generative AI (GenAI) experts. Her expertise has helped guide global leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden and former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Schick founded the GenAI advisory firm Tamang Ventures and created the Substack project, “The Era of Generative AI.” In 2020, she released her first book, “Deepfakes: The Coming Infocalypse,” which was the first book on AI-generated content.

Natina Thalien, CFE, an author and industry-recognized expert in cybersecurity, will close out the conference with a discussion on the current anti-fraud landscape. ACFE President and CEO Bruce Dorris, J.D., CFE, CPA, will moderate this session, which will be sponsored by AuditBoard.
